Crazy Stat of the Week

Obradoiro’s Maxi Kleber (36 points, 45 index rating) had one of the best individual performances of the season.

But basketball is a team sport, so I’m giving this week’s Crazy Stat to UCAM Murcia, who beat Real Madrid for the first time in 20 years.

To put that in perspective, the last time Murcia beat Real, starting point guard Raul Neto was two-years-old.

Murcia outscored Real by seven points in the fourth quarter to earn the 86-79 victory. They improved to 12-13 with the win.

Murica also snapped Real’s 10-game winning streak and knocked Rudy Fernandez and Co. out of first-place in the standings.

The MVP Returns

Reigning ACB MVP Justin Doellman returned to Valencia to face his former club.

Doellman scored the first two points of the game and finished with 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field.

Unfortunately for Doellman, his new team lost 93-73 on the road.

Pau Ribas On Fire

Pau Ribas made all five of his three-point attempts in Valencia’s win over Barcelona. He finished with 18 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Someone Draft This Man

Sevilla’s bruising young center Willy Hernangomez showed his mobility on Sunday.

After a screen, the Spanish big man switched onto Estudiantes point guard Javi Salgado, blocked his shot, then beat everyone down the floor to finish the fastbreak.

At just 20-years-old, Hernangomez has a diverse skill set. He should be an early second-round pick if he enters the upcoming NBA Draft.
